I am registered to care for children between the ages of birth and 5 on the Early Years Register (EYFS 2014). I am also registered on the compulsory part of the Childcare Register (2014) to look after children from the ages of 5 to 8 years and the voluntary part of the Childcare Register to look after children from ages 8-18.
You can find information about my registration with Ofsted here
Both the EYFS and the Childcare Register have been updated by the DfE from September 2014. You can find more information about the EYFS here
You can find more information about the Childcare Register here
You can also ask to see my printed copies.
As part of my registration on the Childcare Register, I have to inform you about what you can do if I am unable to work. I have 2 backup child-minders who might be able to help, depending on vacancies and I can pass on their contact details if needed. You might also find the following website useful –
West Sussex Family Information Service
I will do everything I can (if the situation allows) to help you find alternative care but in some circumstances you might have to make your own arrangements. Please also refer to my Unexpected Closure of Childminding Service policy.
As part of my registration on the Childcare register, I have to inform you about the type of activates I offer your child. Activities are linked into their interests, and I will inform you via daily feedback about what we have done. Examples might be making cakes, making pizza, painting, small world play, crafts, nature walks, music, story-time, messy play, loom bands. All children also have free access to age appropriate toys, books and quiet time. Activities provided can be either adult led or child initiated, and will be indoors or outdoors.
There aren’t any learning and development requirements In the Childcare Register, but I will need to talk to you and your child’s teacher at school (if your child is aged 5 and still in the EYFS) about how I can complement their learning while they are with me.
REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
In order to register with Ofsted to provide childcare all childminders must follow certain criteria, this includes
1- A minimum Level 2 qualification for voluntary register- I hold Early Year Professional Status (level 6)
2- An enhanced CRB/DBS-This is a safeguarding requirement and ensures all adults living or working on the premises are suitable to be with children. Both myself and my husband hold enhanced DBS certificates.
3- Paediatric First Aid- I hold this qualification which is renewed every three years in line with current legislation (due for renewal January 2017)
4- Safeguarding training- I renew my safeguarding training every three years in accordance with Ofsted requirements
There are some other differences between the 2 registers which I will be happy to explain if you would like further information.
